Travel Log: Low T Tuesday

It’s been busy up here in Boulder and there is a lot to update you on. Let’s start with a little light hearted fun shall we? My friend Nick Zepeda came up on Tuesday and informed me I was Low T, meaning my taco and tequila level was dwindling. Nick took me to a great Boulder taco shop called T/ACO where it was indeed Taco Tuesday. Fantastic outing, thanks Nick! Of course in keeping with recent tradition we followed it up with a round of disc golf.

Tacos, salsa, and margaritas are apparently my happy place!

Remote Career Opportunity

Given our seemingly crazy plan to drop out of the medical world here in the States and try to find a way to make a living remotely I’ve been pursuing a career change as I mentioned in Travel Log: Boulder Adventure. I’ve spent the last six weeks studying for my life and health insurance licenses. I had full day classes Monday and Tuesday, so Nick turned up at just the right time. Yesterday, 9/14/23, I sat for my boards and passed both exams. Next week I’ll be able to file the paperwork to become licensed in Colorado.

My goal with this coarse of action is to help people navigate Medicare. Every day in the U.S. there are 10,000 people turning 65. Medicare is extremely confusing. I’ve never wanted to get into sales, but I think helping people make sense of this system is acting more as a guide than a salesperson. I owe a thank you to our long time friend Laurie Lamb for encouraging me on this path. Honestly, we’ll see how it goes because…

Radiation Now, Cruise Later

Tiffany recently requested that I be able to join her on the ship and it was approved. We are both super stoked! So what does that look like at this point? On Wednesday, 9/13/23, I had the CT modelling procedure done to plan my radiation treatments. In keeping with everything else we’ve been up to, the current plan is extremely tight. I start by treatments on 9/25 and finish the last one on 10/9. I fly out later that week on 10/15, taking a red-eye to London. From London I’ll take a train to Southampton where I will board the cruise ship on 10/18. Here we go!

Biking, Hiking and a Wedding

In my spare time in Boulder I’ve also been doing a lot of biking and hiking. Colorado has now recognized it is mid-September with a change to cooler, wet weather that makes those outings extra-pleasant. I’ve also been taking the bus into Denver and finding there is an abundance of street art in Denver as well. Maybe I’ll do an Instagram post on that in the future. Side note, two weeks in Mexico with no issues at all. I come back to America and someone steals the lights, pump, and tool bag off my bike. Good grief.

There is also a wedding rapidly approaching next week. Congratulations are in order for Brendan Boyd and Kristin Moe who will be getting married in Estes Park on 9/23/23. Steve, I’m going to have to miss PokemonGo Community Day that day. Sorry buddy. ;0)

Needless to say, it continues to be a busy month. The Boulder adventure will be wrapping up in short order because it’s all coming together. When all goes as planned I’ll be updating you on the joint adventures of Dog and Dragon very soon. Cheers!

  1. Bob! Community Day! I’m not sure how you can choose your son’s wedding over that. Get your priorities in order! [I’ll see about getting extra shinnies for you–actually, the 23rd is the weekend in the middle of a two-week trial, so I may be working].
You passed! Yay! Not that it is a surprise, but still nice. Not as exciting as heading to the ship, but exciting nonetheless.
I think I’m Low T too. I’m glad I have a name for this feeling now.

  2. Wow! We are so excited you get to join Tiffany out on the high seas! there’s a chance for me to catch up to you both in Pokemon Go now! Congratulations, Kristen and Brendon! Bob, may all your treatments go smoothly….so good they start after the wedding. I would love to buy you a taco before you head out yonder!
