Most of my posts to date have been lengthy updates to fill you all in from time to time on where we are and what’s going on. That approach offers an in-depth look at different places, events, and periods of time. I feel like it also leaves big gaps in time that I’m not thrilled about. I’m creating this travel log category as more of a quick update that I can post to on a more frequent basis. I’m thinking of the travel log as more of an ongoing diary type function to just say hi, like we do on Instagram. We’ll see how this works out and if it can get me posting more regularly.
So the other night we were able to have a little date night. I told my good friend Steve about our “date” and he suggested I do a little post on here to share it with everyone. Here’s how that went down.
Dragon has access to WhatsApp via the onboard WIFI. We typically talk / message each other every day. The other night the crew was planning a movie night to watch Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Unfortunately the show wouldn’t start until after 11 pm, making for a pretty late night. I downloaded the movie onto my laptop, we connected on WhatsApp with a video call, I inverted the camera and set it up to show her my screen, and we watched the movie together. This all happened while her ship sailed somewhere in the North Atlantic and I was sitting comfortably in my apartment in Boulder, CO.
There are probably better ways we could have pulled that off from a technical perspective, but the result was great. It was nice to just hang out together for awhile and do something semi-normal. We were able to enjoy the moment and laugh together. It was great! Anyway, hope you enjoyed the update. We’ll try to keep them coming more frequently.
